That could be--does anyone have a good link to some images of the filaments? I tried to find some in archived pages, but all the images were gone.

Actually I found a picture online that is really similar to what's going on with my coral, it's id'd as mesenterial filaments also--might even be a garf bonsai too, what do you all think? What's to be done, it doesn't seem great for the coral, please advise: [IMG]

It usually is a response by the coral to another coral being too close.

yeah i looks like its sliming because its kinda mad at something. My bet is dosing or top off water hitting it.

top off water is added in the back chamber of a powerfilter and is dripped in (albeit rapidly) so it's pretty thoroughly mixed when it reaches the tank. That is something I'll keep in mind though

It is down current from a pavona, could that be releasing turpenoids or something?

You know, I don't run carbon in this tank, should I start to again?

Whenever something starts to recede or slime i always want to run carbon, just don't get around to it lol. I would run a bit for a week or so if its convenient.

I would suggest running carbon at all times and changing every two weeks.

I've got a carton of API carbon that I've been holding on to for a while now--I'll rinse it and put it in a sock and start running it right now. Thanks for all the help everyone, I'm now pretty sure this is mesenterial filaments are what's going on here. Gotta love the forum, thanks again for the help!
