Thinking of adding my first SPS, is this Birdnest a good first choice?

Any advice on any of them? Placement wise, etc.

if you got them from live aquaria, you probably wont have to do too much light acclimation as they keep everything under icecap 400w 20k with actinics also.
Moving them around just makes them mad... and especially in a tank with no history of sps it is probably best to just put them where they would be most happy to begin with.

The only time i ever light acclimate corals is when they come to me super pale or beat up. Its best to just put them in their final position right away because moving them constantly may lead to RTN. My tanks are SPS dominant, so i deal with acropora/montipora every day

I can't keep green birdsnest alive to save my life. The pink however grows like a weed... go figure.

Digitata are very, very picky when it comes to flow. Make sure you get good polyp extension. If after a day of not touching, it is not extended, move and try again.

Congrats Claic - some fine looking corals you chosen there IMO

    Birdsnest corals
my experience was that because they have very intricate braches and they are very close together, flow is really important for these corals, otherwise bits and pieces drifting about the tank get caught up in them and these areas then become easy targets for GHA

the same is true for any really complex branching SPS corals

random flow, chaotic flow, is ideal as this means water travels from all directons around the coral and thus nothing is given a chance to settle on it

For my Acro. how do I find the scientific name for it? It wasn't on the Diver's Den. As in what kind it is.

It is hard to get the correct scientific names for acro's. I am still trying to hunt down the proper name for this coral, so far all I get is blue acropora.

I think it is Acropora Enchinata, but that is also just a guess unless it has physical charateristics that define it that are obvious, I am at a loss.
