Think I really need this?

    I'm in the process of building a 5gallon frag tank that I'm going to take back to school in August. I have my other two tanks. 75 FOALR and then my 30 gallon reef tank that i'm currently growing the 2 frags that i'm going take with me right now. The 30g has this Mini-Skimmer in it ad it works great. NO complaints there.

    My question is do you think that I really need to have this skimmer in my refugium in my 5g frag tank or is it worthless for that small of a bio load? Trying to save as much $$$ as I can. Poor college student here!;D

    If you have enough live rock in it and are stocking the fish very light I dont see any reason for it. My reef has been running for a year now without water changes and no sign of nitrates.

    plus i have heard not so great reviews on the fission skimmer

    edit: I see you have one on your other tank? what do you think of it?

    I tried that skimmer when it first came out, and it is garbage. Don't waste your money...

    Agreed. DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT.

    It is excellent in creating noise that your roommates will just love at night and produces so many bubbles that your tank will be a cloud.
