Absolutely. It blocks gas exchange like a film of plastic.

While I can't provide a 100% guarantee, if everything else was in check, that very well may have been the culprit.

Just a thought that crossed my mind....Is it possible that when one or two acro's start to die off, they will take others in the tank also from the chemical warefare? I'm still losing my baby colonies and the other day was pulling out the acros that really showed no sign of recovery. Today I'm looking at the remaining few and they look a bit better. I also decided to change out my carbon a week after the last time I changed it and took out my filter socks. I am running a few MJ1200's throughout the sump to just keep things moving. I just find it weird that my new chalice is growing two new eyes lol...i thought chalices required "cleaner" waters.
