After some thoughts my gf's new dresser isn't the right spot for the tank. The weight of the tank is bowing the top SO, I decided to build a stand and got a little carried away. After talking to my carpenter (my father) we drew up some plans. He suggested that I build the stand to give me room to grow (its like hes enabling me). The stand is 39" Wide x 26" Deep x 40" high. I went with that height so you can view it standing or from my bed. It's constructed with 2x4's. The top is made of plywood with ceramic tile on top. It's removable to make moving the stand easier. I'm in the process of staining it right now. I'm hoping to match the bedroom set I have. It'll have a door on the front and a shelf on the bottom to accomodate a fuge/sump in the future ... It's turning out really good so far.

Looks really good! I can see on the front legs that the vertical 2x4 is supporting the load but its hard to tell on the rears. You don't want any anchoring device like screws, nails taking the load as they will give out over time.

Thanks for the input ... The rears are notched on the vertical, glued and screwed. I'm pretty confident that they should hold my Cube fine. If I upgrade I think the largest I can go is a 40 gal breeder on top? 40 gallons + rock and sand probably would put me in the 300-400 lb range.

Nice build. The tile top is a great touch.

You could even do a 65 gallon 36x18 footprint.
