I resealed my 90. But i wish i would have bought new. Im paranoid about it leaking.
For sure. And more fun too! Most of the stands on the market are so bland looking.
Yeah, that's understandable. Just give it a daily once over... I'm sure you'd be able to see if a problem was developing. How thick is the glass?
I actually ended up selling that whole setup a few days ago. I bought it all for $100. Took out all the live rock, and relisted it. I sold it the next day for $130... and I was very honest about the scratches, which I wish the person I purchased it from was.
LOL its been awhile but sorry to hear about the injury and hope your better . as far as when i built it i had just finished it when i posted the pics on your thread and am using a 55 gallon tank for the sump.
Thats some awesome looking rock great deal.
Good idea on nuking the rock. Always better to start with a "clean slate" in my opinion.
Thanks! After all was said and done, I made 10 bucks, and got to keep the rock! Awesome! I'm going to order another 50lbs of base online, and get to work with some aquascaping ideas. I can't wait.
That's a big sump! I'm planning on just using my 29G. I figure that should be enough for what I plan on putting down there... I hope.
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I'm having some red slime algae problems in my current tank, so I'm hoping nothing carries forward from that either.
NEW PICS! I finally did some work on the stand today. Had an MRI last night, and should get the results pretty soon. Hoping I don't need surgery on this torn rotator cuff.
The stand turned out a little more "bland" looking than I planned. Maybe it's a good thing. It is growing on me. The doors and side panels aren't hinged on yet... so excuse the uneven gaps here and there.
Next thing I need to decide is what color to stain it... if at all? Any suggestions? I'm thinking a cherry wood color. I just don't want something that conflicts with the black of the tank... so I almost want to leave it the color it is, and just seal it.
The stand looks great!
Thanks man! Tomorrow I'm going to go at it with the plane to make sure it's totally level... then pick up some hinges and stain from Lowe's.
Hoping to place an order for some brand new glass soon.
I will most likely be building a new stand soon - for a new tank - also a 75g. I plan to add another 6" to the width of the tank so plumbing can be hidden behind the tank. I will close that part in with a small door(6" wide, as tall as the tank) on each end. These will be opened to access plumbing to shut off the OF line. I think one side will be OF shut off...the other will have my controller display module/ electrical outlets. Here's the rendered design(not trying to steal the thread, just giving ideas).
It's funny that you say that man. Mine is oversized for a 75g also, but I'm planning on ordering a tank with an overflow installed, so I'll be drilling through my table top to run the plumbing.
If you look at my third picture of my last post, you'll see that I did just what you are talking about.. The 3 slot cover on the side of the stand isn't attached yet, and neither are the doors. I was playing with the idea of just putting hinges on it in-case I needed side access. I'm not sure I will do it, but it might be wise. Be sure to let me know when you start yours man, I'd like to see it!
