    tank had fish and shells until i got it and then added in the live sand and two live rocks . The guy that sold me it helped me get all the water out then we mixed in 7 or 8 gallons of salt water and refilled it here. It has a very good filtration system i'll take pic's in about 2 mins and upload them

    so you just added more sand...

    no water changes im guessing?

    When was the last time you tested your salinity... and did a wter change?

    Im guessing now.... have you ever topped off your water evaporation from ur tank. Your tank will evaporate water causing a salinity rise. You avoid salinity rise but topping off with ro water whatever was evaporated

    Yes, as tatted4ever stated.
    When water evaporates from your tank, only add freshwater not more saltwater as this will raise your salinity. You stated the only thing you did was add more sand?
    Did you check the salinity before adding this sand? Is the sand from another tank?
    Its quite possible that salt could have been trapped underneath the sand and when you added it to yours it raised your levels

    rogues will be alright... just got off phone.... he cleaned his hydrometer and he says its reading 1.025.

    He is new... as you can see he has a lotta learning to do... 3reef please help him to get off on the right foot. Any articles that you have read that would be good for him please send his way.... Ill do my best to help the guy out too.

    look into a refractometer. good investment dude. wont give you mixed readings.
