    The Nitrates could have risen due to the dead fish being in there, even for a short time. Not sure if the medications would directly add to nitrate or not but could have killed some cuc or LR hitchhikers which would increase the nitrates.

    I think the nitrates are a result of everything happening. As for now just refrain on adding any new fish and just let the tank be. The medication will run its course and be out of the tank. Run carbon if you want it out faster. You got alot of solid advice so hang in there.
