As you probably know, pics don't do it justice. I'm embarrased of how the tank looks but I wanna leave the algae in there and see if the ats will get rid of it without doing water changes. I think the color came out pretty good, I would maybe add some more blue if I added anymore leds.

I love your light, great job!
I soo can't wait to build my own LED setup.

    Congrats on the progress. :)
I found exactly the same thing, even though no one had ever mentioned that. My take on that is the Meanwells are rated at 1.3A since that's their factory preset, which doesn't mean they can't produce more. However, they're might be a life and/or durability issue if you run them above 1.3A continuously. I figure mine are running right around 1.3A continuously, as I set my max at 1.45A, but I don't run them at 100%.

Sorry for the off topic post but I want to know if super glue is so bad then why does RapidLED recommend it as a way to attach optics? I'm gonna be po'd if I ruined 24 stars @ $4 apiece average.

But the build is looking so awesome. I like the typhoon and am glad I learned of it before I went with the PDM.
I'm anxious to see what it does over your tank. :)

I don't know, where does rapid recommend it? I must have missed that. I just picked up loc tite stik n seal yesterday. The non toxic water clean up kind.

I've heard people say Rapid doesn't recommend it either.

Do you have a source for that info?

The fumes from the superglue trapped inside the optic will degrade the clarity of the diode's emitter.

    40 Degree CREE XP-G/XP-E Lens/Optics (white)

Right here. I NEVER write anything I can't back up. ;)

*edit* you'll have to click on the details page.

I didn't mean to imply you do. ;)

Let me do some digging here on my own.

The question that needs to be answered is what the long term effects of exposure to Cyanoacrylate (super glue) has on polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA; the typical material which is used to form the converging lens integrated with the diode).

I was looking at every other description of the optics Mike sell and the they all plainly say "plastic adhesive".
I'm sending him an email. I'm going to be very hot if 24 diodes are basically useless. I was just getting ready to order another 24 and 2 more drivers to go all LED.

Again my apologies to Insanespain for the minor jack.

No appologies needed. This is a critical piece of information that needs to be figured out so people doing led builds can do it right the first time. I'm interested to find out more. For now I think I will use the non toxic loc tite stik n seal.
