iv had luck with peppermint shrimps. perhaps it would be less of a PITA to remove the predators and let the shrimps do their night time munching... my 2 cents

If you have a serious AIPTASIA(since no one seems to be spelling this right) problem then peppermint shrimp will not help unless they are absolutely huge. Depending on the size and amount of you Aiptasia, the copper banded butterfly might not do anything either.

Your best bet is to inject any large Aiptasia with vinegar and buy a File fish to finish up any smaller pieces

And if you do take your rock out. Even with some cleaning, you'll still get a cycle from the decaying matter on it.

    The other suggestions sound good.

I have actually taken a rock out of my DT, used my fireplace starter, ya know, those big butane things about 6" long, and torched them.
The flame stays very small and local, so it doesn't go much anywhere else.
The rock is only out about 5 minutes total, so no die off, etc.

I've also mixed very potent Kalwasser paste, (pickling lime), put it in a syringe, and injected 1-2cc right on it and it also worked- for rocks I didn't want to remove.
    This also worked.

I've only seen and Tx'd like 4 aptasia ever in my tank.

good luck, let us know what you do, etc.

Thanks for solving the problem Vizzle. I have been spelling it wrong this whole time LOL.

I never thought about burning them off. I think I might just give that a try.
I like to play with fire sometimes anyway.

I was thinking about putting some saltwater in a seperate 25 gallon tub, taking the rock out of my tank, burning off all the aiptasia I can see an letting it sit in the tub overnight. If I do not see anymore aiptasia, put it back in my DT and take some more rock out.
    Burn, rinse, repeat.

They also sell the electronic zappers. You could try one of those.
