How about this combo then? I really love the look of my current lighting. Its a purple ish blue that still has amazing pop in the individual colors... or 18k if you will. Not that windex light blue.

Really not much different than the first one. The Purple Plus and Fiji Pink are just about the same color. You do have more white with the 6500K though. The VHO bulbs will control the color that you see the most since they are in front and back and there is 2 side by side.

I guess I can think of it in theory all day long, till it gets here and I can play with it I'll never know.

So you like the coral+ because it's not as harsh right?

Yes, much less harsh than white bulbs especially when mixed with other colored bulbs. Experimentation will be your best guide. I think you could go down to a 6 or 8 bulb fixture with the 4 VHO bulbs.

I got a really good deal on an ATI 10 bulb powermodule off my local forum. I may just go with 2 VHO. I have all the parts around to do 4, but I could just do 2.

Thanks for all your help! Your experience is invaluable around here.

Here is a comparison of ATI purple plus and KZ figi purple

ATI is the actual spectrograph, and the KZ is the rough red line.

    Newbie needs T5 advise

Hello, I'm a noob to this forum and I need some advise on lighting. I have an 80 gallon bowfront ( 48w X 22d X 22h) that I want to buy a light for. I am planning short term on FOWLR but would like the option of going REEF with some corals, mostly LPS in future. I found a light online that is:
    36" t5HO with 6 lamps/LEDs/timer at a pretty attractive price. Comes with
3 12k and 3 actinic lamps. Single power cord with light timer (each sep) Is this too much lamp mounted 6" above tank.

    Appreciate any input

    David

    Welcome to 3reef.

You might need to raise it a couple inches higher but it should do fine for your future use. It will allow you to keep whatever animal you want as long as they are placed with their light needs in mind.

Thanks for posting a combined chart. Pretty comparable except on the red end.
