Going to buy a T5-HO 6 bulb hood system. I am looking for the best price and bulb!

    Who has the best price?
Found one setup at Reefgeek for 426.75 with 2 Actinic 03, 2 Aquablue plus and 4 6500k daylights.

    What are the best bulbs?
    All bulbs above are Giesemann's.

Please help this has just taken up to much of my family time researching this!

BRUCE, how do you like your setup?

I am currently trying to decide between a 2x175watt MH + 2 54wattHO or the T5HO 6 bulb setup. Hard choice, either way I'm curious to see who is the cheapest and how your service is! :D keep us updated :)

    Joe,
That aquauniverse is a good price. I think they are lower because of the end caps are not totally enclosed and the reflectors are not the expensive type. I was looking on ebay and came up with this.

They have a number you can call and maybe get a price on a 6 or 8 bulb setup???

    No bulbs with this setup

    Ok.

    1) I love my setup ^^.

    2) a. I think you mean: 2 Actinic, 2 Aquablue Plus, and 2 6500k.
    b. Im not sure if you going to like the 6500k. My friend has a 75gal tank with 6bulbs and he got rid of the 6500k after about 1 year because of algae problems. He now replaced the 6500k with 2 actinics bulbs and the coral are all great. He has sps and all sorts of stuff. So right now hes has Blue +, Blue +, Aquablue, Blue +, Aquablue, Blue +. Check it out here http://www.notlehs.com/reef/salt.html.

    3) Price for me was good because I was able to pick it up. I really like reefgeek...nice people. If you go with them you will be happy.

Lemme know if you have any more questions.

One more thing. if you are planning to put the lights in a hood, you will need fans. Im getting fans for my setup because ths summer scares me...and I dont have a hood.

Other than that the corals are all looking happier. The acro is getting its color back and the montis look amazing and are so fuzzy!

Bruce, about the 6500k spectrum, it doesn't matter if it's T5 or MH, right? I was thinking using the 6500k MH bulb from Iwasaki. I guess that's out of the question then....*sigh*

Ya...i would got with 10,000k for mh...unless your going to have alot of actinic. With more actinics it wont look as bad...but like my friend you might have some algae problems
