switching sand?

    I thought the florida sand was pinkish color.

    it says white sand, thats not the exact kind i'm getting, just what seems like the closest to what they have at the LFS.

    Unless you're having a particular problem with your sand I wouldn't risk it, JMO.

    You could add a little to what you have now whould be better then taking it out and putting new in. You are risking to much doing this.

    If you don't use live sand but use dry sand there should not be a spike. I would leave about 1/4 to 1/2 of the old and then add the new. The hard part is not spreading sand all over the tank when it is full of water. watch that mandrian closely 6 months is not that long for the live rock to mature and when you remove the sand you may pull a lot of what it eats out with it.
