    I only know about MH bulbs. My purple Monti is about 10 inches under the 150 watt DE HQI bulb and getting a lot of growth now. He was on the opposite side of my tank where he was being stung from my favia. I really think their are so many possible reasons why yours is not as blue as someones elses. Try the new bulbs and see if that helps. If it doesn't help call up Vividaquariums and tell them they sold you a fake
