if i where you, id use a 20 long for a sump, 10 is basically a waste as it will at MOST add 5 maybe 6-7 gallons of water volume and wont really allow you to place much equipment in it

I already have a full wet dry system but I got a new skimmer and it won't fit on my tank so I am going to use the sump for the skimmer and some algea

Totally agree. I have a 10g sump for my 30g and with the skimmer, return pump, box of rocks, heater and Koralia Nano im putting in there soon, there's hardly any room for my "bad" fish to swim around. Upgrading to a 20g soon. Also, the fact that you should only fill your sump about 65%-70% with water makes it even worse.
