The sump must be below the tank for the overflow to work but are there any rules that say the plumbing can't drop below the sump and then rise back to meet it ?

I'm wanting to put my sump etc. in another room than the tank and to get the plumbing there it will drop under a floor briefly. Drop from overflow in tank to top of sump will be about 3 foot. Drainline may drop another 2 foot and then rise back that 2 foot in the middle.

In my mind its the same thing as a P trap in a drain line.

    Thoughts ?

Should work fine imo. The thing to think about is flow when you go below the floor then back up you are adding head pressure (resistance)so flow will be slower.Think if it's only 12 inches (down) you should not add to much head pressure.
