Oh also, I would add that I recommend cutting the frag off of the plug.

    1. the plug is made of porous concrete and will harbor wild bacteria that are not beneficial to our tanks. Trust me, I have found this out the hard way (side note, I ALWAYS recommend ceramic plugs)
    2. It has all kinds of weird dirty ocean algae that will grow on it in about a month or two.
    3. I have heard from a reliable source that some of those islands use sand that has heavy metals in their concrete mixes.

That is reasonable. I know ORA sets the price of every frag they sell and RP is $35, I think.

    Haha thanks :D

Unfortunately, the name "Strawberry Shortcake" is so widely used to describe anything which resembles the original, I don't think the original has any sanctity anymore...

Show this picture to the masses or any vendor, and they'll say it's a strawberry shortcake. :-/

Cut if off as close as you can at the base, and sacrifice the bit of encrustment.

+1. Acros grow faster when they have to re-encrust anyways.

i always put my acros on its side on the plug versus trying to make it stand upright. That way you have a bigger area for it to encrust and then you will get a really nice, thick growth Plus I think it grows faster
