So, I got home today. I had added a fresh cocktail shrimp last night. Today it's MUSH and disintegrating. Good sign?

So, My ammonia has jumped up to between .5 and 1 when I tested it today (I didn't test yesterday). Making progress!

Now, as my tank is empty now except a couple hermits (I took the shrimp out since it was dissolving and I didnt want to keep polluting the water), will I need to worry about adding a fish as soon as it's ready so the bacteria doesn't die off?
