    star polyps Problem

I have star polyps the have a purple base that the polyps grow from,I noticed that one side of it started getting brown I started to blow it of gently with a eye dropper and it started to fall apart sending purple chunks to the bottom.
the polyps still open up and look good its just the base that is starting to fall apart. any suggestions as to what this might be?

You may want to try to increase water flow to the star polyps to reduce the chances of detritus accumulating on the encrusting mat.
Not commonly found, but sometimes the star polyps mat will show signs of neucrosis. If this happens the mat will fall apart like a wet piece of bread...the best way to describe it! The best way to avoid this spreading is to cut out the effected area by cutting into the health part of the mat and get rid of it by syphoning it out. This will remove the bad section and the star polyp will regrow.
Try an addition of iodine as well!!!!
    Good luck!

thanks coral reefer I'll try that. your right it's like wet bread it just falls apart.
should I quarantine it I have a goni, and button polyps but they are ok.
I just got done fighting a battle of brown jelly on my goni but after 2 months and alot of iodine dipping its finally gone.
