i only have expierence with macros in salt, but ive done planted fresh tanks. the tank it is going it is a 10 gallon with 175w halide roughly 2 feet above the tank. there is one halloween hermit in there do you think that i will have a problem with the hermit muching the grass?
and about 2 inches of sand
you should be fine then, I figured I would ask though. May be eaten by the Tang, if the avatar fish is in the same tank. The hermit won't be much of a bother I don't think. But with hermits you never really can tell I guess.
I would love to get some of this stuff
do you want me to hold you a piece? Starting a list of people from the forum who get dibs before the general public.
here is a pic of the grass - this is a closeup of a single blade, you can see many blades shoot out, this is how it got the name star grass.
did I read that page right and there is a male and female?
here is a great article on keeping sea grasses the ideal way:
Beyond the Refugium: Seagrass Aquaria by Sarah Lardizabal - Reefkeeping.com
The grass can have a male or a female flower, but it can happen on the same root system. Turtle grass has nice flowers, the halophila plants tend to have smaller flowers. That article has more on it.
