    2x250, rule of thumb is one halide for every 2 feet of tank

    but wait.... also if i got 2x250 MH should i still have some PC to supplement them.

    Depends, if you get a nice 20K or 14K bulb you could go without it. The Hamilton 14K and the PFO 14K bulbs are viry nice and I know a lot of people run the 20Ks without actinic. If you get a 10K or 6500K halide then yes you will need actinics.

    i saw this bulb that was 50000K. is that special.

    50K if it is available and is a true 50K would probably be so blue and so dim there would be almost no point.

    As for my lighting set up I have it all mounted in a custom made canopy

    It consists of, 1 Icecap 660 VHO ballast, 2 Icecap 250 watt MH ballasts, 2 parallel reflectors for the halides, 2x4' piece of reflector mounted in canopy, 2 4" fans, 2 250 watt hamilton 10K bulbs, 3 URI actinics, and 1 URI 50/50. and a PFO moonlight. So somewhere close to 850-900 without the canopy.

    i was thinking of getting a 1200 gph powerhead by Rio would that be too much for my tank.
