I can't figure this out.. it happens a lot. I could have hours and hours of no micro bubbles coming into the tank and the water is crystal clear. Then I go and look and I have cloudy micro bubbles in the tank like crazy. The skimmer seems to be operating exactly the same no matter what. Any ideas?

my skimmer usually puts out more bubbles right after I feed. Are you noticing it after you feed or add anything??

Hmm. I'm not sure that's it.. I fed around 10am and noticed about an hour or two ago. I am not seeing excessive micro bubble in the sump at all.

    Your tank is offgassing.

I'll have to research offgassing. Does it have anything to do with lighting. I noticed it happens more once the lights have been on for a few hours.

Sorry I thought I edited my response.Microbubbles 99 percent of the time are coming from the skimmer and or water splashing in the sump.Try turning off the skimmer after lights on and see if they stop.I had this same problem on my last tank and never did figure it out but I assumed since they were not coming from my sump the tank was offgassing something.Check your ph if you can as well.It will rise naturally through the day so its best to test right before lights on (should be at its lowest point then) and right before lights turn off(should be its highest.)
If they still appear when the skimmer is off try turning off the return pump(if you are using a sump).Check all fittings for air leaks.
Zooplankton can also produce micro bubbles.

Every time I read anything you post, I can't help hearing it in my head in Dr. Evil's voice.
