Ok, after many many hours of trimming my mushroom corals at the bottom of my 30"+ deep tank... I give up. I just want the little b@stards gone. Every time I trim one i seem to get two returning. They are overgrowing everything in my tank. After hours of scouring the net I get little relief.

Then it hit me, hypersalinity. This method "seems" to work. (I will have to update this thread if it doesn't)

    1. Remove rock (PITA)
    2. sprinkle affected area with mixing salt
    3. wait 10 minutes
    4. Place rock back in tank.

If anyone else has a better method or comments, please post.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
My problem with the plan is an ammonia spike from the die off.

My other problems is that we need pictures of mushroom gone wild. ;D

Well your first mistake was trimming them. The best way to get a mushroom to multiply is to make it angry.;)

If you can take the rock out to kill the mushrooms, why not take it out & sell it or trade it for credit at an LFS and get another rock, or even trade it with someone for something else??? I'm going to have a softies tank, so I cringe every time I hear of someone killing a softie because it's "taking over"!!!

If you are deadset on killing them, put a drop of Kalk paste in their mouth and they will Melt away. dont do a bunch at a time as you will have a spike.
