Ive cleaned my skimmer the other day as well, wasnt producing awesome nasty stuff any more, turned out, the air intake was clogged with calcium build up.

I am thinking that is the problem with one of my skimmers lol. That is what prompted my cleaning phase lol. ;D

Now that my skimmer has been going for a little while on top of running purigen/rowaphos, my corals are really starting to open up more and my water looks clearer lol. Oh yeah, I have also been running an UV sterilizer as well along with a new light lol. I guess there have been a lot changes for the better in the last few weeks along with about 30 more pounds of established LR.

It seems like my red shrooms really love my tank lol. They keep on splitting all by themselves. I started with two heads in June and now I have seven, and I have never fragged them. I will have to post some pics later of my new heads lol. Right now I need to go help my brother-in-law move though.

The red shrooms on the right are my old ones and the ones on the left are the new ones I got a couple of weeks ago. They look to be the same type, but a different color. Does anybody know why?

Does anyone have a good name for these zoas? They were a $5 frag sell with no name?

Hope you enjoy. Feel free to comment! :)

    Looking great, Smitty. :)

That's an Asterina star. Seeing it on the glass tells me it's harmless. There are some species of Asterina that feed on Zoas, but you typically find them on the Zoas. Just a couple months after adding a bit of live sand to existing tanks that I started with dry sand and dry rock, I had tons of asterina stars, tiny snails, pineapple sponges, bristle worms and pods. And people try to say that bagged live sand is no longer live by the time you buy it. lol

Some species of mushrooms come in different colors. Why some multiply so readily in one tank and not another is anyone's guess. I've had one since July... and it's still just one. Some say they split when they're happy, others say they split when they're stressed. I guess mine is neither stressed nor happy. Just kinda chillin ATM.

Your skimmate from the 14g looks like mine. I only get about half a cup per week from my 29g, though.

I have no experience with any type of GFO, but apparently you done good with the rowaphos. I've heard a lot of nightmare stories about bleached/dying corals from dropping the phosphates too rapidly. There may be other mechanics involved in those cases, but that's the general observation ATM.
