I'm very new to the hobby, but I know there is some very fine plastic screen you can get from your local Lowes/Home Depot....

would something like work? Put it around the overflow so it covers the slots?

also, just thought about it, what about like an old fish net?

You can use the door screen screen, the only draw back is that your going to be cleaning it often.

Maybe he likes it in there :p .. I had the same problem I used some filter media to keep my clown out of the overflow he probably goes in at night mine used to sleep close to the surface and he would get sucked in at night. But he is no longer with us sooo anyway good luck

Screening will work just fine. I had to do that for when I had a baby snowflake. I was terrified that he would swim in and go bye-bye.:)

Just make sure it's not metal screening and you're good. I'm pretty sure most metals aren't good :p Be prepared to clean it lots until that little guy grows up a bit.
