I've not come across any plans for a skimmer, I'm sure they are out there. One problem with making your own skimmer is that it needs to be efficient. It is a vital piece of equipment. I would suggest starting with a tube of some sort and getting a needle wheel for a pump or a venturi valve. Then it's just a matter of making the collection cup and neck.

How fancy does it have to be? You can make a simple air pump driven skimmer out of a 2 liter pop bottle and a few other parts.

What materials, pumps and parts do you have that you can use to build a skimmer out of?

It would work with air, you need an air tube from the pump to the surface to draw in the air. The needle wheel just chops the water with the air to make the bubbles.

hi Bohun - where you from by the way

you can get a Berlin air driven skimmer - the 60 I think for 15 - 25 bucks these days if you shop around on the net (you need to add an air pump)
and I have used this, and in fact the Berlin 90 model and found them both to be reasonable in terms of skimmate collected and pretty good for smaller set ups

    Just an idea
