I just turned on my skimmer and the tank now has a lot of air bubbles shooting out of the nozzles why?

As soon as I unplug the skimmer the bubbles stop.

I never changed anything with the set up I just simply unpluged it for about 2 weeks while I treated the tank.

    Can anyone help?

The bubbles sometimes go away when the skimmer goes through the "break-in" period. If not,try placing a sponge on the outlet of the skimmer. That should do the trick. Luna

I have a sponge where it dumps back into the wet dry

Now I'm noticing like slime comming out off all my corals floating to the top of the tank.

    Should this be happening?
Am I hurting the tank or corals?

Sometimes you have to adjust the flow to stop the bubbles. Also as mentioned above a break in period often is associated with microbubbles initially and then they disipate!

Turn air intake valve down to make skimmate thicker.

The tank has been running for 4 1/2 months I was running the skimmer after like 2 1/2 months then I bought a fish that had a parasite or somthing and he infected my whole tank I treated the tank for a while. I bought new fish and everything was perfect.

I dont know the name of it.

I'll try to post a pic.

IMO it's the meds. Do another water change in a day or two then another and the skimmer shouldn't be making bubbles anymore. I had this problem with a fw tank I had years ago. The air stone made bubbles, like not normal ones, these stayed on the surface longer...I swore my kids were putting dish liquid in the tank.....Then I thought about the meds...::)

Did you just leave the water in the skimmer while you had it shut off? If you just let the water sit in the skimmer it may have been contaminated with something. Usually corals will only slime if they are aggraviated some how.

I agree with cuttingrass alot of the med will linger in the tank and give you greef with your skimmer, I had the same trouble in the past,
PS would never treat my tank again now its full of corals they just dont seem to like the treatments "reef safe" or not
