So I have had these two turbo snails since I started my tank over a year back. They LOVE to eat my algae off the glass, make babies and bulldoze my corals.

Can I get rid of them and is there a smaller snail that does the same task without moving my corals around the tank?

    Thanks!

Here's a pic of some if their fine art when my tank was cycling.

I was having the same problem, but I was told to superglue my plugs to the rocks I had them on, and can honestly say, that wonderful glue single handedly saved my Turbos.

You can get Astrea snails. They are prone to falling off the glass and stuck on their backs from time to time. Doesn't do much with hair algae though. Just film algae.

LEAVE HIM ALONE! HE JEST A BOY! I'm kinda surprised you've had them long term in such a small tank!

There are a ton of smaller snails, im partial to Ceriths and Dwarf Ceriths. Some people dislike the dwarfs because they can be seen as unsightly towards lights out as the crawl out of the sand.

I started with 3 but I lost him a few months back. The other two are enjoying life, they sit on the beach basking in the LED sun waiting for algae to grow on the glass.

It's a very simple life they live. ;)

    I currently have:
    2 - Turbos
    1 - Cerith
    4 - Nassarius

I don't want to kill them, they do oldly hold a close place in my heart to be honest, but I feel once I lower my phosphates(from the new reactor) there won't be enought food for them and I am sick of them rippin my tank apart.

Don't forget to save the little swirlies they leave behind. I consider these tiny treasures to be turbo Pearls. Sadly I only have one, but I somehow hope to have a box full. (Even more sadlier, imagine all the snails that have to die to fill my box of death!!!! LOL)

Ha, well I hope to find them a good home. I couldn't just take them out high and dry, I hope to take them to my LFS and find a new better, larger home. :)

I have come to the conclusion in my tank, that if it isn't glued down, it's doomed.

True, but!!! What about the corals on my sand? I have lost two nice corals because the turbos push them into my Acans. I have tried different positioning and still they find ways.

But the most important question is, when I install the new reactor will that affect their food supply? Currently about every 4 days the glass gets fogged up with algae, and that becomes their food supply.

I am okay letting these guys go for healthier corals. ;)

Get some more dwarf ceriths, tiny and good algae eaters. Or try some Chitons. John at reefcleaners has these now. I don't think they are bad bull dozers and are super cool.
