All, I'm moving in 55 days and I need to sell my tank. I will post it on line but I wanted to get a feeling on what would be a fair price.

    Equipment:

Tank -75 gal with built in over flow
    Stand (no hood)
    6-buld T5 light
    SWC Xtreme 160 Protein Skimmer
    Reef Octopus Phosphorous reactor/filter
    BRS Single stage Carbon reactor
    Hydor Koralia Smart Wave
    2 - 1050 gph Hydor Koralia Powerheads
2- 1400 gph Hydor Koralia Powerheads
    4 - smaller powerheads (around 250-500 gph)
Neptune System controller with temp and lab ph probe with probe holder
    2 - Eheim 125w Jager heaters
    Aqua lifter auto top off
    Madison company float switch
BRS 5 stage 75 gpd RODI
    1 gallon of Kalk
3.5 lbs of BRS Bulk GFO Granular Ferric Oxide High Capacity
    Salinity Refractometer
3 Hanna Checkers (Calcium, Alkalinity, and Phosphate)

    Livestock:

    Pair of clowns
    coral beauty
    sixline wrasse
    watchman goby with paired shrimp

    Coral:

    Toadstool
    Hammer Coral
    Various zoas
    Blue/Green Staghorn
    Aussie deepwater acro (I think?)
    Stylophora
    mushrooms
    Rose Bubble tip Anemone
    Montipora

about 75-100 lbs of live rock

    Various supplies about $200

I have about $3,200- $3,500 in the tank.

What would be a fair price?

    I was thinking around $1,800 to $2,000

Also, for some reason I can't attach pictures!!

Honestly, you would be better parting it out. I see systems that are worth 3k+ going for 500-1000$ on craigslist all the time. Most people will not want to drop that kind of cash.

But good luck with the sale!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Sounds like a very nice set up.

Unfortunately unless you get very lucky you will get no where close to what you value it at.

I know this first hand from selling my tanks in the past.

People will try to part you out and realistically you will probably have to part it out based on how badly you need to sell the system.

    Try photobucket to post images.

I would start at 1,000 and see if you get any response and move down from there.

    Good Luck to you.

I agree with everything said so far. I would start maybe a little higher just to see if there is the possiblity of getting more.

I actually recently sold my old cube....i was asking 200 for tank, stand, and a vertex IN80 skimmer. I ended up taking 120 and delivered it because no one was super interested. So i sold the tank and skimmer for half of what the skimmer is worth.

Agree with both,it's hard to move complete setups, they're just too much for many, parting out would be best, but after buying and selling tanks myself, you'll never get close to what you have in it.

Now on the bright side i listed a newer higher dollar quad runner on craigs about 2 weeks ago, sold it in one day and even got better than my asking price (long story, but I did, lol)

I have absolutely nothing to back this up with, but it seems most complete setups go for about $10/gallon. So $750 for you! But I agree, list it up for sale for what you think it is worth and see if you get any interest at all. If not either list it lower, or part it out.

Thanks for the advice. I've never sold an aquarium so i'm new to this. I've seen tanks the same size as mine but much less equipment for $1500, but I'm not sure what they sell for.

I'm not opposed to parting it out but obviously I need to sell the coral and livestock before selling most of the equipment.

I would highly recommend parting it out- you will get a greater value for it that way. The reason is that people typically aren't looking to purchase an entire set-up that someone customized- they want to build their own.

If you part it out you will get people here or there that want certain corals or fish and then you'll have someone else who wants the skimmer, etc.

Your best bet is to sell the livestock and tank, then you can take your time and get better value for the other stuff (skimmer, pumps, reactor, etc) because worst case scenario you can just box it up and take it with you.

That is what I will most likely do. Once the livestock and coral is sold I can move everything else.
