    Anyone using a scwd ''squid''on their tank? Are they actually beneficial or just a gimmick?:confused:

    I currently use one and it works... had to put a valve on it to tone down my pump from making it rattle but the wave effects are cool.

    They need to be removed every couple of months and soaked in vinegar to get rid of Calcium deposits. But they work.

    Thanks for the replies,do they cut down on flow at all i am running a mag 12 now and am thinking of going to an 18.could one of these handle it?

    You have to check your head height for the mag 18. If your head pressure is more then the unit is designed for then you'll need to valve it down or it'll be noisy like mine was. I just had someone reply to my prior thread for wave makers stating they have a 1" SCWD capable of handling more flow... atleast that way if you don't have enough flow you could put smaller pipe on that for more pressure. I am unfamiliar with Mag's head pressure so you'd have to look into it and check max gph on the SCWD.
