    Hey guys,
I've been fighting brown spots in my sand for over two months. I had a cyano outbreak and treated it, three times. I've done weekly water changes and sucked out all the brown sand time and time again to no end. I used chemiclean and did two 50% water changes and every other time 20%. I'm also skimming 24/7.
    My parameters:
    salinity: 1.024
    Phosphate: 0
    Alkalinity: 9
    Nitrate: 0
    Nitrite: 0
    Ammonia: 0

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

What type of water are you using for your changes?

I mean, are you sure it's the Sand clouding the water.

yes, it's not clouding the water. The brown spots are on the bottom and surface daily, even after relentlessly turning over the sand

Time to look into a clean up crew from Reefcleaners.org imo. I had the same problem, got a quick crew from John and haven't had an issue since.

    I'm also undetectable on p04/no3

    Nassarius and Dwarf ceriths.

Another option is a sea cucumber. They make excellent sand cleaners, but are similar to anemone's in that they can be toxic if they die.

Are you getting their RO/DI water or is it prepackaged- "real ocean water"

Also, what size is your tank and what types of fish do you have (bioload)?
