salting the tank

    Ok everyone will tell you this or that. I say pick one and try it. Do full test on new water and if it has good perams go with it.

    I've been using Reef Crystals for 2yrs with much success. I find it a very consistent salt mix.

    Depends on what you are keeping in your tank. If it's going to be FO or FOWLR, Instant Ocean or equivalent will suffice. If you're planning a reef tank, a reef grade mix like Reef Crystals or Red Sea Coral Pro would be better. There are several others in both categories, and any name brand will work.

    If you are going with a reef, get salt that has higher Ca, Mg, etc. That way you won't have to supplement as much, as each WC will add them back in.

    I just ordered the 200g box of Reef Crystals (~$50)- it is sitting next to me at my work desk.;D
