    yeah and guess what?? i dont think those people have to pay 100$ to eat the clam, yet we have to pay that much to buy one alive!

    they catch them locally, of course they probably have gotten harder to find over the years(I've amazed at how much we pay for these items too, especially since most natives eat them with out a second thought). if its dying or dead its no use throwing it out. ;)

    actually i was really bored on youtube one day and came across a video of a company or something aquaculturing these clams by the thousands... just to be sold and eaten.

    So... I took the clam out and looked him over. He had a large hole on the side I couldn't see while he was in the tank. Oh well... RIP sammy the clammy
