Wow yeah that came out looking really good. You used a hole saw after the masonry bit to widen your holes? If so how did your hole saw fare after you were done? I'm digging your pvc base as well. Looks easier than what I had in mind.

i have some shelf rock in a couple of my tanks from them and its fantastic. i cant imagine how good a tank would look if you attached some shelf rock to those sick looking pillars. it would amount to a sweet looking scape indeed.

Wow! That's nice! I think you've inspired me to do some aqua-scaping. Thanks!

Pulled the trigger last night on 50lb of 2 sided cuts. The odyssey begins.

    Thanks!
I used the hole saw bit for the 1.5" hole I drilled to help cover the intake of the CL. The 1" masonry bit was rather expensive (1.5" WAY expensive) and was bought after I was halfway done drilling. So half the holes were drilled using a good wood hole saw bit that I also used for drilling 1" holes in acrylic. The bit fared good, but will not use it to drill anymore acrylic...
I did start most holes using the wood hole bit as it made a good starting hole for the the other bit and less broken rock pieces.
PVC is the way to go! I initially bought acrylic rods until I seen a guy using the PVC and felt it was a much easier, safer and cheaper was to do it.
I thought about doing shelving, but did not want too much shading as the tank is 38" tall and not that wide.

Roger wilco. I'll get a build thread started any day now. I have my overflow kit from glass-holes to drill still and i'll probably start the thread with that.
