The propper solution is to have a pressure tank attached to your system. Basically, the pump is used to pressurize a holding tank with a pressure guage and a solenoid that shuts off the pump when pressure in the tank reaches a certain level (say 65psi). When you need water flow in the house, it drains water out of the pressure tank and the pressure falls until it reaches a lower level (say 50psi) then the solenoid activates the well pump to recharge the tank. If you had a 5 gal/day unit this would only draw about a gallon an hour and this wouldn't require your pump to run very much at all.
