In most mantis threads the pictures are few and far between. Stomatopods do not lend themselves to being photographed easily. They are usually barely sticking out of the rocks or zooming around the tank.

Here's a couple shots of Bucky's best new friend. ;D

    His name's Filet LOL

Fed Filet while feeding the fish in the 46 and Bucky darted out from under a rock and nabbed him a mysid a couple times. When he was done eating I discovered that he is using the pvc as a burrow. Well I should say I'm assuming it since when he finally spooked one to many times he shot down the center opening in the pipe.

I noticed he isn't as deep green as when he came but I don't care. I was just very happy to see him and that his missing arms have definately grown back.

Yeah I read a little bit on fish that had a fighting chance of survival with a mantis and Damsels seemed to do o.k. Besides Filet was only $2.99. I really wanted to put a Royal Gramma in there cuz they're pretty quick and alway hyper cautious but decided if I did buy an $18 fish I'd wake up today with only to find Bucky wearing a bib and sipping a fine Ciante` LOL.

My damsel was cool for a year... then one day he killed his cavemate out of the blue.

Thanks and he's doing very well appearently. I was watching the damsel eat because it's still skittish and saw movement out of the corner of my eye. There was Buckster! He nabbed a mysis that was close to the bottom, did a somersault and was back under the rock quick! A couple seconds later he did it again but this time I could see him watching the shrimp drift in the flow from under the rock. I could tell he was calculating the easiest grab. LOL That time he got the piece and was gone down the middle tube. Haven't seen him since.
