When he came he was missing his right raptor and a couple of what I assumed to be right walking legs. He moved like a drunk and leaned right all the time.
When I say moving fast he was on the bottom and running. When he swims it reminds me of my peppermint because he rolls almost completely on his back. When hes investigating he stands on the legs near the rear of the abdomin close to the tail but he leans to the right a bit.

He was probably still using his pleopods as his main means of locomotion. They are quite graceful swimmers, much more graceful than any type of shrimp. When a shrimp swims it has a bunch of little legs very much like walking legs that it kicks to propel itself through the water. Stomatopods have pleopods designed for swimming, they are broader and more shaped like paddles than legs.

They can do barrel rolls, flips, turns, dives, etc that a combat pilot would envy, and a shrimp or even a fish could only dream about doing.

cool and good to know. I went home to grab a sandwich. He was nowhere to be seen. But no worries. He'll show when he's ready.

Also the less you feed him the more he will leave his den to hunt. I only fed Fister once a week and sometimes less frequently than that.

The plan was to wait a couple more days but when I saw him out last night he just looked hungry lol. I think this time I'll wait it out and put the chunk just into the end of the pvc and see if I can get him to move in there once he finds it.

Those "swimming legs" would be called swimmers, or swimmerettes.

I like the way you put the last part. ;)

It's been just over 27 hours since I last saw Bucky. I'm not worried yet, well maybe a little bit since even from day one I'd at least see his eyes peeking out of his main entrance.
I don't know if it was a good idea or not but while shopping for a small tank to move my ponies into I decided to pick up a yellow tailed damsel as either a tank mate or food for Buckster. Either way I'll have something to watch in the tank besides hermits and snails. lol
