I wonder if the differences in power draw readings are a function of what speed the pumps are running at, or do they say that the dissipation is spec'd at the max speed?

170W? I know you have many connections/circles of reefers.
    I hadn't heard that one.
Can I use my multimeter some how to measure it's Watts draw?

The factory specs saw 85W max.

Being DC powered with a transducer and controller, I think that helps.

Yea pull the wires out so they are exposed. Put the pump on full load. Put you meter on DC and touch the wires. See what it reads. lol

You could use a clamp-on amp meter I would think. Measure the draw at the 120V outlet. Run the pump full speed. If it was truly 70 Watts, you should measure around .61A.

I won't be getting mine for probably 3 weeks. But I could test it then if no one is able to before hand.

I know you are joking, but you really should add a disclaimer afterwards saying so! Too many people see things on the internet and then immediately go out and do them. Don't want to put yourself in a position to get people hurt :-/

You COULD take some test leads and wire them in series to a short "extension cord" to see what the AC current draw is, then do the math, but that's a PITA, altho it wouldn't speak to what's happening on the DC "supply side". You would however, know how much the DC supply is drawing from the house.

Yea I was saying after the power brick. Probe the wires with pump on full to see the dc watt draw.

All you need to know is what is on the AC side, no? Whatever it draws AC is your power consumption.
