    Todd,

Keep the reports coming...I'm sure I'm going "DC" when I crank the 100 gal back up. The pump I had running it before (LG4) was a bit too loud in a room with tile floors and a high ceiling. I just need to decide on which flow rate I want to use...

I am looking for a new return pump also. I don't need it until the spring because that's when i am planning on setting up the 150G. Where are you getting the group buy deal at?

Are these pumps submersible? I am planning a 150G DT with a 40G sump. Would the 6000 be too much or good?

    Thanks guys!

No, the DC-6000 would be perfect for a 150! (assuming a "normal" head of ~4') I will PM you GB details.

And for just a little more, I'd get the big guy, the 12000.
It does come with a six speed adjustable controller! Then you'd have more umph for any reactors, other tanks in the system, etc.

Btw, I'm currently running about 10' head on my 12000.

I was thinking the same thing...since it's adjustable, why not have the extra flow under your belt in case it's needed. I suspect that with the chiller and all, my head is about 10' - 12' as well, assuming roughly 6' for the loss thru the chiller.

With the 6000, at full speed and assuming 4.5' head, it should flow about 925 GPH, which is well more than I need in my 125. But, now that I am thinking about it, if I ever upgraded to a 180 (or bigger), the 12000 would still be large enough. It is only $10 more...

Glad you guys chimed in :)

Have you measured the wattage of the 12000 with a watt meter?

    No, Don't have one.

    Specs say 85W max.

A reefer on my local board says he found a site that says 100W Max.

And I have also heard 170w. I'm curious just how efficient these pumps really are or aren't.
