I have a torch that started as two branches with two heads on each branch. There was a growth that started at the base of one branch. It kind of looked like a new head trying to poke through. However, the heads on that branch slowly wilted. I split the branches and remounted the one side as it looked healthy.

There is now a similar growth on this branch and my heads on it a wilting again.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    :)

Just wish I know what it was. I lost the first branch, and this one is starting to look just like it. It went from full PE, to barely out, to skeleton in a little over a week.

Can you get a closer pic? Have you tried dipping it in anything?

Can try to get a closer shot and have not tried dipping it.

I have seen the "growth" retract a little when disturbed. That's what made me think it was a new head popping out.

Here's the best shot I can get of it. I don't have a macro lens that will let me get a real close up (minimum focal distance). Any ideas on what to do? All my other euphyllias are doing fine, so I think the growth is the problem.

Here's what it used to look like. The left branch went first (not long after this photo) and the right branch is now reduced to the photo above. You can barely make out the original "growth". It's the dark spot with white edges that's just above where it's glued to the rock.

Found a photo editor and cropped the original photo. Here's a closer view.

The outer "shell" will close sometimes when it's disturbed.

    Some kind of bi-valve?

Did the torch fall off of the rock at any point? Could it be brown jelly disease?
Not really sure, wish I could be of more help. Hopefully others will chime in.

I don't think it fell off. I haven't seen any signs of brown jelly.
