    Thanks Nugio.

I've only been on this forum for a couple wks and I have to say, everyone has been so helpful. It's comforting to know that a group of people exists to help promote this hobby by educating the newbies, such as myself, as well as exchange ideas w/the pros.

Before getting into this hobby I really didn't know anything about the problems w/reefs. The info I've rcv'd from this forum has been so helpful, I thought a small donation was the least I could do to help in the cause. It would be nice if everyone who has benefited from this website would be so generous as to make a small (or a large one) contribution. (skip 1 Starbucks coffee!!!)

    (my 2 cents)

Goodness do I ever need one of these!

Just getting ready to leave for airport this afternoon and going thru last minute checks I thought to test tank salinity with an "extra" "Deep-Six" swing-arm hydrometer I had out in garage for water mixing --- went into "shock" when it read 1.030 - first one was reading 1.0245.

Rinsed both out well with fresh water - then one read 1.021, one 1.026???? :p

So I run down to local pet supply and get the "Instant Ocean" model (all they had) - figuring it will let me know which of other two is correct by comparing readings...

    It reads 1.028!!!??? - now I don't know what to believe :-/.

These things are not worth crap!!!...[IMG]

(as usual, should have been paying closer attention to what you guys were saying - :-[ )

Everyone in tank doing ok so leaving all as is - and promptly ordered a refractomer from liveaquaria...

Hopefully will be here on return.

    Respectfully,

    OmarD

I agree, the blue refractometers are so easy to use and they sell for a great price.
