I am starting my first reef tank, probably mostly soft corals, livestock, and maybe some other corals. Its a 55 gallon tank with a 29 gallon sump/fuge combo and I would like to know what medium to low budget skimmers you would recommend. Thanks for the help

SWC Xtreme Cones are some of the best "bang-for-the-buck" skimmers out there. I'd probably go with the 160 model if I were you. A quick Google search will provide you with several in-depth reviews.

It's might help if you give us an idea of the price range you are working with.

Not sure on price yet, but Coralife is putting out a cone series that should be pretty competitively priced. If you have time to wait you should check those out. Otherwise, I think used would be your best bet. Check on Craigslist.
