I had a 75 reef setup about a year ago and had some the rock left over sitting around. The rock was live at one point and now its dry. I want to add this rock to my year old 220. Its about 10-15lbs

    Should I boil it?

Should I just clean it off? if so with what?

Should I just put it in? I think no...

Should I boil it then cure it?

Should I just cure it and how?

    Thanks....

I've just used some old "dead" LR for a new system we're bringing online. I gave it a good spritzing with the "jet" setting on the garden hose sprayer to remove any loose material and ran with it. Since the tank is new, if there's a bit of dead organics on the LR, it will help start the cycle anyhow.

I'd cure it. As Greg said, maybe hose of the nasties. Then put it in a tube with saltwater, a heater, and a small powerhead and let it cycle as normal. Just test it weekly and you'll know when its done.
