I am starting a fresh planted. I got the urge a few months ago, then I saw Steve's tank and that pushed the build into overdrive!

My question is, is that I have a good Nova extreme 4 bulb fixture I used for a salt tank. Can this be used for my fresh? I know the bulbs would have to be replaced. This would def save me a few bucks.

    Thanks.

Mine is lit by a 6 lamp Aquajapan fixture with 4 x 10k and 2 x Actinic lamps

so the answer IMHO , is yes, but like you, I am going to change at least 2 of the tubes for some plant grow lamps , when I eventually source them

Yep the fixture will work fine ..

I have two SW fixtures over my two 46 gal bowfronts with the 10k and actinic bulbs still in use on planted FW..

196watts total over each 46gal tank not counting the moonlight leds..

More then sufficient. Just change out the actinics for 5100K to 10000K to 12000K bulbs.
