question..how to stop sump from emptying during a

As yo can guess I'm a real newbie with reefs, I plan on using a 29 gal sump for a 55 gal reef.
if you loose suction on the external overflow, I guess the sump empties by pumping it' s water back into the tank.
is there a auto shutoff you can purchase to shut down the pump/heater and skimmer or are you SOL and everything runs dry burns out?
I can't seem to find this answer in anything I've bben reading or am I missing something on running a sump?

I just use a power strip with a power turn off button.

I'm really stupid but does this shut off the power or just give a warning that the water is low or high?

and if it does shut off the elec. does all the units plug into it or what?

my question really has to do when your not home and this happens.. I hate to have my equipment run dry or cause a fire by burning out.. but thanks for the response anyway...

You would want to hook it up to your return pump and mount it in your sump and when your water level drops in the sump it will trip the switch it the float and shut down your return pump.........................  John

Cool but they have a circuit that pops so the electronic devices dont come back on until you hit the button on the strip.

It all makes sense now.. something so cheap can save you mega $$$$$

Did you read the directions in the e-bay ad? Funny stuff!


1.install at the bottom of the water tank:

when the water was full in the water tank ,the float ball is rise ,the circuit is didn't working . when the water was few in the water tank ,the float ball is descend and at the same time it swith on the circuit and send signal .---------------this goods is belong to this category.
