    the place i get most of my fish from has a purple tang on sale for $50 it has lat line disease,hence the sale.he eats like a pig and he has had him for welll over a month my question is hows this guy gonna fare if i bought him? i know lat line is from poor water quality. so will it go away if hes put into my system? with all untraceable amounts of trates/trites?

    i think that LLD is more from a nutritional deficiency than poor water quality. it can definitely be corrected. The LFS is probably not feeding it enough algae.

    it could...he has lat line from all the meds nd stuff in the dealers tank...im just wondering if i buy him nd put him in prestine water will he get beter or is it a lost cause nd not worth buying it?

    I'm really not the one to ask. I don't have good luck with fish LOL. I don't know why more people haven't responded though.

    HLLE is "curable" however the scars may never go away. As long as the fish isn't already too far gone, is well fed and your water is pristine with no stray voltage, it certainly is possible that the tang may recover. Make sure that you make algae it's primary source of food if you decide to buy it.
