I remember reading that it is recommended that the pump for the sump on an Oceanic Reef-Ready 72 be rated at 650-900 gph. I assume that means at 4' head but I just wanted to get confirmation before making a purchase.

Sounds about right. I always hook up a ball valve on the pump outlet though for adjustablity so it can be turned down if nessassary. Are you going with a submersible model or a external?

These tanks have one overflow correct?

Yep, there is one overflow. I will look for a pump that does around 750 gph at 4' and hook up a ball valve.

The overflow in the tank can probbably handle 400-600 gph so that is why I suggested the ball valve. Are you going to use a submersible or external pump?

I was thinking submersible. Is there any reason to go external besides the heat from the pump warming the water too much?
