thank you yeah, my tank needed it really bad - my water is crystal clear now! ;D

 

last question - there is a tube connected to the collection cup that goes back to the tank. it looks like stuff from the cup goes back to the tank... is that okay? i thought i may placed the tube wrong but it looks the same in your youtube video.

 

that is a drain outlet where you drain all the junk out. that outlet should be out to a container, not back to your tank. if back to your tank, you're on square one again, agree. get a container and let it drain out to it.

 

Can I just seal it then and just empty the collection cup?

 

yes you can, bend the tubing with a rubber band and that will do it, very simple and easy.

enjoy the skimmer, my advice for you is if your skimmer is working, don't mess with it.
