Proper way to feed frozen fish food?

i actually fill two glasses with water from my tank. i defrost the cube in one and then pour the contents of that glass into a net (over the sink)after i feel it has defrosted. then i empty the food from the net into the second glass. i then suck up the food from the second glass with a baster and squirt it into different areas of the aquarium. the baster allows me to squirt food into one area where the aggressive eaters will swarm and then target different areas where the slower guys stay (hoping that the pigs are distracted by the first infusion of food).
