Yes it is and yeah I did. You know I like messing with stuff. For me that is half the fun. For $12, I figured I'd try it. Even if it fails the holding tank is over the basement sump and on a concrete floor. I wouldn't use it in a marine environment because of a few metal parts, but I'm winging it on the fresh water side.
